Residents have a critical opportunity this Saturday, Oct. 25, to safely dispose of old and unused prescription medications during the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
The nationwide event aims to combat substance misuse, prevent accidental poisonings, and protect local water systems from contamination. Collection sites will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at multiple locations across Nassau County. Disposal is free and anonymous, with no questions asked.
The following items are accepted for disposal: unused or expired prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, pet medications, prescription patches, prescription ointments, and vitamins. Items not accepted are needles, sharps, liquids, aerosols, or inhalers.
