The Nassau County School District has appointed Stephen H. Johns as its new school safety specialist, according to a recent release.
Johns joins the district from the Fernandina Beach Police Department and brings federal, local and private-sector security experience, the release said, including leadership roles with the Drug Enforcement Administration and security management with Amazon.
In the role, Johns will oversee districtwide school safety and security efforts, coordinate required safety assessments, support emergency preparedness and threat management, and serve as the primary liaison between the district and local public safety agencies, the release said.
