The county weightlifting meet was held on March 4 at Yulee High School, and the scores in the Olympic portion were tight.

Fernandina Beach High School won with 48 points, edging out West Nassau and Yulee, with 44 points apiece. Hilliard finished in fourth with 23 points.
West Nassau won the tradition title for the sixth year in a row.
Fernandina Beach High School’s Luke French (183 pounds) and Kevin Ortiz (219) are county champs in the Olympic form, and Clay Hicks (154) and Kalani Tucker (199) won their weight classes in traditional.
Finishing in second place for the FBHS Pirates were Pierce Alexander (154), Leyton Mezzio (169) and Aaron Morton (199), all in Olympic, while Gabe Marquez (219) was second in traditional.
Pirate lifters finishing in third were Ethan Lavin (119) and Cason Sorrells (238), Olympic and traditional; Ethan Watts (219) and Chase Jozsa (unlimited), Olympic; and Chase Harris (183) and Ortiz (219), traditional.
County champs for Yulee are Turtle Ricks, Cloud Byrd and Adam Ballentine.
