The Fernandina Beach High School girls golf team finished third at the District 3-2A tournament Monday at the Fernandina Beach Golf Club. The FBHS Pirates shot a 378 to finish behind Stanton (342) and Bishop Kenny (372). Yulee (461) was fourth.

FBHS junior Elle Reisner finished second overall and advanced individually to the region tournament, but the team did not automatically qualify. Their season average pushed the Pirates through, and they play Nov. 4 at Quail Heights.

“Excited for the girls to move on,” said Christina Steffen, head girls and boys golf coach at FBHS.  “These at-large bids are new this year, and we were the first team to be awarded a spot with our lower season average than the other school in our region.

“Now on to the next step. Most girls have played Quail Heights, so they are more prepared this year.”

Reisner, a junior, shot a 74 on Monday in the district tournament. Junior Emma Genovese shot a 97 to place eighth, senior Zoey Gamba posted a 101 for 10th, senior Raleigh Simmons had a 106 for 14th, and senior Carmen Green turned in a 130 for 23rd.
