Pro putters return to Main Beach

By Beth Jones

The Putt-Putt at Main Beach opened in 1959, around the same time the Professional Putters Association was formed, and for the third time the course is hosting the PPA’s national championship. The first event was held in 2015 and the last in 2020.

Play got underway on Monday, with 104 players competing in the senior championship, followed by the Hall of Fame championship on Tuesday and the doubles championship on Wednesday. The week culminates with the two-day national championship on Thursday and Friday.

Play starts at 10 a.m. each day, with the exception of Friday, when play starts at 9 a.m. The awards ceremony follows play on Friday. The public is welcome to watch around the fence line.

The courses are closed to the public during the tournament, but the clubhouse is open with refreshments and merchandise for sale.
