
Welcome to this edition of our weekly community update, designed to keep you informed about ongoing developments and initiatives throughout our city. This week’s report features highlights of recent progress, updates on municipal projects, and key announcements impacting our community. - The North Second Street streetscape project is underway with new electrical utilities and stormwater system upgrades currently being installed. Expect intermittent road closures during portions of this redevelopment project.
- The award of bid for parking management services goes to the City Commission for a vote at the Aug. 19 regular meeting.
- The Greenery is performing annual palm tree pruning within the downtown area.
- The city’s budget process continues on schedule. The City Commission will vote on the Capital Improvement Plan on Aug. 19, and two budget hearings are scheduled during September. The new fiscal year begins Oct. 1.
- The men’s locker room renovation at the Atlantic Recreation Center pool is complete and open for use.
- Engineering and design work continues for the demolition and redevelopment of the area commonly known as Brett’s. Permits are currently under review with the Army Corps of Engineers.
- Streets Department staff has begun milling North Second Street in preparation for irrigation and landscaping work.
- The city has been awarded a grant through the Federal Clean Vessel Act and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for the purchase of a new marina pumpout boat.
- The National Night Out, End of Summer Concert with the Youth Advisory Committee was a success. Thank you to everyone for coming.
- Pedestrian access on North Second Street remains open. Vehicular traffic is permitted on weekends only.
