County track & field meet held at Yulee

The county’s top runners, jumpers and throwers gathered at Yulee High School on March 4 for the annual track and field meet. Camden County also participated.

Yulee’s Tre Vazquez won the boys 100-meter dash, in 11.40, and the 200-meter dash, in 23.08.

Joshua Barnes of Yulee won the 400-meter dash, in 52 seconds. Chase Cannone of Yulee won the 800-meter run, in 2:08.60.

Elijah Webb of Fernandina Beach won the 1,600-meter run, in 5:29.95. Hilliard’s Ceegan McClinton won the 3,200-meter run, in 12:26.77.

Camden’s Jakobi Jones won the 100-meter hurdles, in 18.27. Preston Le of Fernandina Beach won the 400-meter hurdles, in 1:03.93.

The FBHS boys 4×100-meter relay team took first place, in 44.17, edging out Yulee, which finished second in 45.01. Yulee won the boys 4×400-meter relay team, in 3:38.48. FBHS was second, in 3:53.63. FBHS also won the boys 4×800-meter relay, in 8:36.20.

Sam Colwell of Fernandina Beach won the high jump, with 1.9 meters. Teammate Beckham Rohe won the long jump, with 6.34 meters. Yulee’s Sebastian Lopes-Santiago won the triple jump, with 12.01 meters.

FBHS’s Ethan Watts won the discus throw, with 39.98 meters, and the shot put, with 13.06 meters. Hilliard’s Justin Bennett won the javelin throw, with 47.05 meters.

Camden’s Shazarria Ferguson won the girls 100-meter dash, in 13.08, and the 200-meter dash, in 27.49.

Mikaela Nichols of FBHS won the 400-meter dash, in 1:02.92. Teammate Maya Kovalick won the 800-meter run, in 2:29.88.

Yulee’s Rooney Walker won the 1,600-meter run, in 5:56.54. Taylor Peterson of Yulee won the 100-meter hurdles, in 16.28, and teammate Deborah Hoffman won the 400-meter hurdles, in 1:10.23.

Camden won the girls 4×100-meter relay, in 51.45; Yulee won the 4×400-meter relay, in 4:32.47; and FBHS won the 4×800-meter run, in 10:47.96.

West Nassau’s Amelia Shute won the high jump, with 1.27 meters, and Ferguson won the long jump, with 5.33 meters. Karmela Jordan of West Nassau won the triple jump, with 7.65 meters.

Rylee Corcoran of Yulee won the discus throw, with 26.63 meters, and the javelin throw, with 25.1 meters. FBHS’s Layla Johnson was the shot put winner, with an 8.23-meter throw.
