The Hornet grapplers hosted their annual duals tournament last weekend, and the team finished second overall. The Yulee High School wrestling team finished 2-1.
“With how young this team is, I’m really pleased with how we’re performing,” said Mike Blasucci, new head wrestling coach at YHS. “We went 2–1 on the day, with our only loss coming in a tight dual against Camden County. We’ve got some guys who aren’t quite at their best yet, but if we keep doing the right things in the practice room, I think we’ll peak at the right time heading into the postseason.
“Lucas Flannery has been especially dominant and was named outstanding lightweight. This group is definitely poised for growth, and that doesn’t mean we’re not expecting results this season. Our girls team is actually down in Kissimmee wrestling at the Christmas Knockout, and we’re looking to have a good showing from them, as well.”
