FBHS girls ninth at state meet

For the second season in a row, the Fernandina Beach High School girls swim team has finished in the top 10 at state. The FBHS Pirates finished ninth at the 2A meet over the weekend in Ocala. The FBHS boys placed 17th.

The Pirates had five top-eight finishes and three state runners-up. 

Rileigh Revere is a state runner-up in the 200-yard individual medley, Skylar Revere placed second in the 500-yard freestyle, and Cora Foxwell-Jones is a state runner-up in the 100-yard backstroke. Logan Cook was third in the 200-yard individual medley and placed fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke.

The girls 200-yard medley relay team of Skylar and Rileigh Revere, Foxwell-Jones and Shelby Rothenberg placed 12th, and the boys team of Cook, Mason Pickett, Dylan Brooks and Nate Morris placed 16th.

Skylar Revere also took ninth in the 200-yard freestyle, Foxwell-Jones was 13th in the 100-yard freestyle, and Rileigh Revere was 10th in the 100-yard breaststroke.

The girls 200-yard free relay team (Rileigh and Skylar Revere, Belen Conley and Foxwell-Jones) placed 10th, and the boys 200-yard freestyle relay team (Cook, Pickett, Brooks and Morris) finished 15th.

The Pirates also set six new school records at the state meet – both individual freestyle events for Skylar Revere, Rileigh Revere in the 200-yard individual medley, Cook in both of his individual events and the girls 200-yard freestyle relay team.
