It’s Friday, and that means high school football. Both the Fernandina Beach and Yulee teams play at home tonight.
The FBHS Pirates host Bell in the first round of the Sunshine State Athletic Association’s Atlantic League playoffs. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
Tickets must be purchased through the Bound app. No cash or passes will be accepted.
The Yulee Hornets host Pedro Menendez at 7 p.m. tonight in their regular season finale.
Fishbites Nov. 15 at American Beach
The Nassau Sport Fishing Association is holding its third annual Fishbites beach outing at American Beach on Saturday, Nov. 15, starting at 8:30 a.m. The event concludes at 1 p.m.
A tent will be set up on the south end of American Beach, and all-wheel or four-wheel drive and proof of Nassau County residence are required for beach access. Additional parking is available at Burney Park.
Brett Burford with Fishbites, Barry Croneberger with DS Custom Tackle, Chip Brundage, the Sinker Guy, and Bryan Curlett with Surf Fishing Solutions (carts, cart accessories, sand spikes) will be on hand for the outing. There will be a short presentation at 8:30 a.m., followed by the competition.
There will be first- through third-place awards as well as a consolation prize for the smallest fish caught on a hook. There is also a mystery prize and other prizes as well as gift cards from Academy Sports.
A Florida fishing license is required.
The pros will be sharing tips during the competition. There will also be a selection of fishing carts, spikes, rigs and other fishing supplies available for purchase. A meal will be provided by the NSFA.
