The Pirates wrap up the regular season tonight, April 10, at home with Savannah Christian. First pitch is at 7 p.m.
The Fernandina Beach High School baseball team (18-4) won four of its last five games. FBHS beat Baker County 3-0 March 25 and Fletcher 8-2 on March 27 on the road and returned home last week to edge Tocoi Creek 6-5 on April 2. The Pirates lost to visiting Fleming Island the following night and blanked host Ridgeview 6-0 on Monday.
In the narrow win over Tocoi Creek, the Pirates collected five hits, with singles by John Addington, Eli Salyer, Landen Holbrook, Preston Matricardi and Dalton Janey. Janey, Conner Bayless, Matrciardi, Trace Farmer and Addington knocked in the runs.
Janey stole three bases, and Farmer and Holbrook stoke one apiece.
Farmer got the win on the mound. He gave up one hit and struck out one batter. Matricardi went four innings, giving up one run on four hits, walking one and striking out six. Salyer gave up four runs on three hits and struck out one in 2.1 innings.
Pirate batters collected four hits in the loss to Fleming Island. Matricardi had a pair of hits, Farmer had a double and an RBI, and Holbrook tripled.
Grady Stevens took the loss on the mound. He gave up four runs on four hits in four innings, walking four and striking out five. Lincoln Pertkiewicz went 2.1 innings, giving up no runs or hits, walking one and striking out five.
In the shutout win over Ridgeview Monday, FBHS had five hits, with one each by Bayless, Dylan Wilkes, Holbrook, Addington and Lucas Hutchinson (two RBIs).
Farmer got the win on the mound. He threw five innings, giving up three hits, no runs, walking two and striking out eight. Holbrook pitched two innings, giving up no runs or hits and striking out two.
