TaxSlayer Gator Bowl
The 81st annual TaxSlayer Gator Bowl game will pit Virginia against Missouri on Dec. 27 at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, and once again Amelia Island is hosting a team.

The Virginia Cavaliers will call the Omni home while they are in town, and the team will practice at Fernandina Beach High School.

Leading up to the big game, the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl recognized area educators. Mary Walker of Fernandina Beach High School was the 14th Most Valuable Teacher of the season and was awarded $1,000 through the Extra Yard for Teachers program.

Walker was nominated by a student, who said, “She really cares about the success of her students and builds a great relationship with the students, like myself, making it a joy to see her at school.”

Mrs. Gray from Yulee Primary School and Ms. Scott from Emma Love Hardee Elementary School were also honored and awarded $1,000.

Tickets for the game are on sale through Ticketmaster. Visit www.taxslayergatorbowl.com.
