Cash Dewitt returned the opening kickoff of the 2025 season 76 yards for a touchdown,
and the Pirates never looked back in a 46-0 victory against Joshua Christian on Tuesday.
“We were able to execute what we wanted really well and got a really nice win to start
the year off,” said Raleigh Green, head football coach at Fernandina Beach Middle
School. “Saw some things we need to clean up as we progress through the year, but
overall we are happy with our performance in this one.”
Quarterback Connor Goodman was 2-for-3 passing for 54 yards and a touchdown. He
also rushed once for 23 yards and a TD, and on defense, Goodman recorded a
quarterback sack and forced a fumble and a safety. Foster Russell completed four of six
passes for 24 yards and a TD. He also had a pair of rushes for 19 yards and, defensively,
recorded a tackle for a loss.
Jamoni Hall reeled in three catches for 22 yards and a TD, and defensively, he had a
tackle and an interception. Marhean Coleman had a 49-yard TD reception. Jace
Simmons had a 66-yard touchdown run, and he had three tackles and a pair of pass
break-ups for the FBMS defense.
John Leibert rushed once for 17 yards and had four assists, and Jha’lil Jamison rushed
twice for 13 yards and a TD. He also had a 5-yard catch, and on the opposite side of the
ball, he recorded one assist.
Bryce Schrader recorded two tackles, one for a loss, and picked off a pass. Logan
Pertkiewicz had two tackles, one for a loss, a sack and two assists. Miles Miller had two
tackles and two assists.
The FBMS Pirates play at Episcopal on Sept. 2. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m.
