Sarah Twardy named Nassau County School District Teacher of the Year

Sarah Twardy, a U.S. history teacher at Fernandina Beach High School, was announced as the Nassau County School District Teacher of the Year during the Nassau Education Foundation’s annual Teacher of the Year Gala said a recent release.

Twardy was selected from among outstanding educators across the district and recognized for her dedication to students, instructional excellence and leadership within her school community. She has spent 19 years in education and is known for engaging students in U.S. history through meaningful, inquiry-based instruction that emphasizes civic responsibility and critical thinking, according to the release.

As the district’s Teacher of the Year, Twardy will represent the Nassau County School District as she advances to compete in the Florida Teacher of the Year program alongside educators from districts across the state, said the release.

The Nassau County School District congratulates Twardy on this distinguished honor and thanks the Nassau Education Foundation for its continued support of educators through the annual Teacher of the Year Gala, said the release.

About the Award

The Teacher of the Year program recognizes and honors the contributions of outstanding classroom teachers who have demonstrated a superior capacity to inspire a love of learning in students of all backgrounds and abilities.
