Reggie Hunt Memorial Golf Classic Oct. 24 at Amelia River

The 30th annual Reggie Hunt Memorial Golf Classic is just around the corner. The biggest fundraiser each year in Nassau County for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Florida will be held Oct. 24 at the Amelia River Golf Club.

The classic is held in memory of Hunt, a standout Fernandina Beach athlete who was a six-year participant with BBBS.

Format is a four-person scramble, and registration is still open. Cost is $800 per team.

Registration is from 10:30-11:45 a.m., with a buffet lunch from 11 a.m. to noon. Shotgun start is at noon. There will be putting and beat-the-pro contests.

Proceeds benefit BBBS’ “work in defending and igniting today’s youth to realize their full potential through the power of mentorship,” according to a press release.

The event funds the Reggie Hunt academic scholarship. Visit bbbbsnefl.org/events site to register.

Sponsors include Auto-Owners/Brown & Brown, Availity, Baptist Nassau, Convergence Employee Leasing, Crowley, FIS, Florida Blue, the Jacksonville Jaguars, Publix Charities, Gary Blackall, Larrie Beaudry, MacAljon, Amelia Eye Associates, 1010XL, Coker Industrial Contractors Inc., First Port City Bank/Coastal Chiropractic Yulee, the PGA Tour, NALCO and WestRock.
