The Fernandina Beach Middle School junior varsity volleyball team clinched the county championship with Thursday’s 26-28, 25-11, 15-10 win over Yulee.
“The girls played an incredible match and really stuck with our game plan,” said FBMS coach Lindy Lesoine. “Quinn Hunter was our player of the game.”
Hunter served 12 points with five aces, and she had five kills for FBMS. Teammate Addie Sweatt had seven service points with a pair of aces; Reagan Cannady six service points and two aces; Natalie Weiser five service points with four aces; and Arya Rodriguez had four service points with three aces.
Vivian Morcam had recorded six kills, Charlotte Scott had five, and Molly Lomond had four for FBMS.
The JV team also includes Hannah Manning, Addison Fanberg, Harper Hiott, Elise Johnson, Lainey Hughes, Mary Pazakis, Ashlynn Stephens and Ansley Sorrells.
“I am so proud of how hard all of the girls worked this season,” Lesoine said.
The FBMS varsity Pirates lost to Hilliard in the final.
