The Fernandina Beach Middle School football team improved to 4-0 with Tuesday’s 34-6 win over visiting University Christian. The Christians managed a score on the final play of the game to avoid the shutout.
“UC is a good program, so getting the win against them is always great,” said Raleigh Green, head football coach at FBMS. “We were a little sloppy in the first half, and we challenged our team to step up at halftime. The boys did that to pull away and get a big win.
It’s the first of three straight home games for the FBMS Pirates, who are back home Sept. 23 with Jax Classical. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. The Pirates host Trinity Christian at 6 p.m. Sept. 30.
