It’s homecoming next week and Fernandina Beach High School is revisiting the past. The theme is “Pirates Go Back in Time.”
The week kicks off Monday, Sept. 15, with class color day and a canned food drive. Freshmen wear yellow, sophomores white, juniors black and seniors don blue. The Gonzo Games will be held at 6 p.m. in the multi-purpose room.
On Tuesday, Sept. 16, the dress theme is Country vs. Country Club. The canned food drive continues.
It’s babies vs. baby boomers on Wednesday, Sept. 17. Freshmen and sophomores dress as babies, and upperclassmen dress as baby boomers. Bring in those canned goods for the drive.
Escapades preview will be held in the multi-purpose room, with freshmen skits at 5 p.m., sophomores at 5:30 p.m., juniors at 6 p.m. and seniors at 6:30 p.m.
Lip sync preview will be held in the gym, with seniors at lunch, freshmen at 5:30 p.m., sophomores at 6 p.m. and juniors at 6:30 p.m.
The dress theme on Thursday, Sept. 18, is Soccer Moms vs. Grill Dads. The food drive continues.
That night, students perform at Escapades in the multi-purpose room. The skits start at 6 p.m. A bon fire follows around 7:30 p.m.
Friday is game day, and students are encouraged to dress to show their school spirit on Sept. 19. A pep rally with lip sync performances will be held at 2:35 p.m. in the gym. The parade is at 4:15 p.m. downtown.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m. for the football game. The FBHS Pirates host Santa Fe.
The Hall of Fame induction will be held between the first and second quarters.
Homecoming week culminates with the dance from 7-9 p.m. in the multi-purpose room.
