The Amelia Island Museum of History will host its monthly 3rd on 3rd program Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, at 6 p.m., featuring a presentation on one of the world’s most endangered marine mammals — the North Atlantic Right Whale.

Nick Williams, founder and executive biologist of Whale Guard Bioacoustic Research Inc. and a naturalist guide at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, leads the program. Known publicly as “Nick the Naturalist,” Williams has been featured in Travel + Leisure and USA Today and was a recent speaker at the Amelia Island Festival of Stories & Songs.
The presentation will explore right whale biology, behavior, historical insights and the conservation challenges these animals face today. Attendees will also learn about Whale Guard’s nonprofit initiative to improve rescue response times through bioacoustic research — specifically, efforts to identify the distress call right whales may make when entangled or injured and incorporate that data into tagging systems and passive acoustic monitoring networks.
Admission is free for museum members; a $5 donation is suggested for non-members. Seating is first-come, first-served. The program is wheelchair accessible.
